Survey Results

This survey was very thorough, covering professional interests, personality traits, character, and dispositions. The results for me were very accurate. In order, my best matches were:

  1. Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications,

  2. Human Services,

  3. Government and Public Administration, and

  4. Education and Training.

I am taking this course because I want to switch my professional path from High School Social Studies classroom teacher to an educational specialist that works with either training teachers on practices and technology or works with an educational company that is creating new products for teachers and learners. I would also like to work for a non-profit with training, graphic design, writing, and photography. I love working with students and believe educational consultants need to be in-touch with current learners and realities of classroom teaching, so I want to be able to transition back to the classroom at some point and be up-to-date on educational strategies and technology for high school.

This test is an updated variant on the Myers-Briggs personality test, changed to address criticisms by Carl Jung of the original instrument based on his own personality type theory. The report gave several types of labels, considering the connections between the types (for example, Judging Thoughts that are Introverted supported by Sensing Perceptions that are Extroverted.) It also identified your leadership style, as it was geared more enjoyment of different career paths (such as Goal-oriented, Executive, Visionary, Ideological.)

  • Jung noted that a large number of people fall into the "middle man" category, and my results all fall in the middle or slightly off-center. Because I always get slightly different results every time I take any kind personality test, I took this three times for greater insight from the analysis of type combinations in the report.

  • I take thoughts and feelings into account pretty equally when engaged in decision-making, which can be stressful and time-consuming when my thoughts and feelings are balanced against each other. I am swayed by logic and evidence from the outer world, but my inner world is often directed by my values to be focused on finding possibilities for people and seeking meaningful relationships.

  • My mental energy tends to be focused a bit more on the inner world of thoughts and emotions. I either share or keep these thoughts/feelings to myself depending on the situation. I am accepting, appreciative, sympathetic, and compassionate - though these emotions may not always be clearly expressed or perceived.

  • Though it is fairly balanced there are some slight but consistent trends in my leadership profile. My preference is for secondary or supporting roles in larger organizations and movements. I am slightly more visionary and change-oriented than goal- and action-oriented, and I pretty equally divided between the theoretical and ideological.

Universal Foundations

Before any Design Model is implemented, instructors must:

  1. Identify a learning gap or instructional need

  2. Write learning objectives

  3. Contact relevant Subject Matter Experts

This is a scenario exercise that demonstrates how Learning Objectives and SMEs are matched to the stated learning gap/instructional need.
